Parts List & Budget of same, for EEG Synesthesia AV Creator =========================================================== Main Unit Construction - "A" ====================== Basic Operational Concept: -------------------------- Subject lies down inside of unit, which somewhat resembles a "Cat-Scan" medical device of the future. Brainwaves, heart, muscle & galvanic skin responses are mapped to a realtime musical style of their choice, totally under their thought control. This audio is in turn converted to realtime sychronous video imagery, and as well processed through a transduction surface, to provide a combination of auditory, visual & kinesthetic elements that are generated realtime to the subjects thoughts. There are a myriad of physical controls available to the user as well, to tweak the audio waveforms to produce even more interesting combined effects. This form of biofeedback allows for a performance art of sorts under the subject's own control. Thus the interactive art is ever changing, and everyone has an individual experience. Design Notes: ------------- Looks slightly like today's "Cat-Scan" units, where the subject lies down on their back, with their full body on the transduction surface. Their head protrudes into the KaleidOptic Chamber, with the EEG, EKG, GSR, & other sensors hooked up at appropriate body locations. The subject may either wear headphones or listen to the music on the internal chamber speakers, and they peer upwards towards the CRT at the top of the "cube" formed by four mirrors surrounding them with the CRT topping them off at the edges of the CRT. Their upward vision marks the "bottom" portion of this "cube" of sorts, providing for an infinite bounce of visual imagery. The auto 3D portion is optional, and it's design & construction is explaned in it's separate section. The subjects arms rest in special areas, with separate transduction concentrators located beneath them. Their hands are within reach of many intuitive control panels, that they cannot see during operation of the unit, but will be given a breif instruction of prior to operation of the unit, as well as the option of bringing up a "help-screen" of the controls during the functional operation of the session. The control panels allow switching & processing of the created audio waveforms, thus affecting the visual elements on a realtime sychronous basis as well.
