        Many great inventors had isoteric roots at the hearts of their
concepts turned reality that now play a fundemental role in our society.
Both Alexander Graham Bell with the telephone and Edison {confirm/radio
too?} with the phonograph, originally intended the devices to act as a
bridge to some form of communication between this world and the next.
While originally quite skeptical of these claims, I found myself propelled
into a similar field of research when I began to experience a curious
phonemena I later learned was not so [special], and it had a name: EVP.
        Electrical Voice Phonenomena or EVP surfaced in the mainstream
public eye in the early 80's when much of the extended psychic research
of the former USSR was made public due to increasing concern.  A book
called 'Breakthrough' gave everyone a chance to experience EVP for
themselves.  The basic concept of EVP is to tune your radio to a semi-
static or 'white' noise, where no station exists.  Condensing the theory,
it seems as if external forces, or lost loved ones, or whatever, would
somehow manipulate the electromagnetic forces that be, to modulate the
main carrier frequency or static field with intelligent disposition.
You thus hear what or who you want to.  The difference between my stumbling
on EVP by practice and what Breakthough proclaims is that I was just
listening to at times disturbing transmissions that eschewed forth from
my boom box, whereas the soviet researchers actually talked to and asked
questions from their radios.
